:hee
Besides the horrible prep of drinking the noxious solution and sitting on the potty all afternoon and starving myself for two days, it was not a bad experience. :)
I had laser treatment and figured I would share my experience in case others might want to look into this. I only paid a copay for an office visit, and there was no sedation or anesthetic of any type. I pulled down my pants and undies, kept the rest of my clothes on and lie down on an exam table on my side. The doc did a finger exam, then put a small tube in my butt (that was slightly uncomfortable but not too much) and he used the laser to shrink my internal hemorrhoids. The whole procedure took about five minutes. Then I pulled up my pants and sat in a chair. It doesn't feel like I had anything done. I have to sit in a hot bath for a few nights and use some suppositories every night for a week to speed healing.
He gave me feedback about my hemorrhoids afterwards. They grade them from 0-4, with 4 being the worst. I have three grade 3 hemorrhoids and one of them has an aneurysm (bulging place)...so my hemorrhoid has a hemorrhoid. :har They are all very inflamed, he said. (And they are so much better than a few weeks ago). I was surprised that they were this severe. No wonder they hurt and bleed. I am glad I did it and though I don't look forward to the prep again, I will be glad to have these taken care of. I was surprised by the fact that I would have to do this again...I thought it was a one time thing. There is a 75% success rate of this treatment, depending on your individual body and healing and how it responds. I would imagine that my chances of having long-term relief are better than average, given my age and overall good health. Most folks there having this done were older.

These just address internal hemorrhoids. If you have external ones, they can't laser them...not sure why. I thought I only had one, but it turns out I am a mess in there. I think I had grown used to the pain/bleeding/etc. so it didn't even register. I am looking forward to being in better shape. :) You ladies who are finished having babies should really look into it.

yeah, count me as me four...but is it weird to say that the thought of my husband's co-workers being the ones to do this is enough to make me say "uh, no way"? i don't know...i'll have to think about this a little more...and i don't think they're going anywhere... :tongue :lol

I need to look into this too. When our oldest was born, I grew 1. Then our daughter, and that 1 came back. With Elijah- a 9.5 lb. baby and 22.5" long- I grew 2 more. One is still there and a pain in the proverbial butt!
What doctor did you see for this??? Your OB? Midwife for a referral??? This gives me hope that maybe it won't be too awful to get rid of it.
For external, I had read they are even easier to get rid of.

My doc is a GI doctor. He is so wonderful. I love him. :heart Marci, you can come up here and have your butt done by Dr. Aziz and stay with me. He does it on Mondays and Saturdays. We can get on the same three month cycle and go together. :hee I am going next in June.
I rarely have external ones....just when they are very bothered. But I had no idea I was in such bad shape inside, where only the doc can see. I am so happy to be on the path to getting rid of them...and it was very affirming to have him explain what bad shape my insides were in. I knew I had pain and bleeding but had just learned to live with it.
